Lupus Erythematosus Panniculitis

Abstract
Lupus erythematosus panniculitis is a distinctive inflammation of the fat which may be associated with discoid or systemic LE. Cases without obvious LE lesion are often mistakenly considered to be Weber-Christian disease or factitial panniculitis. Adequate excisoin biopsy will show lymphocytic vascultis and lymphoid nodules together with hyaline fat necrosis and these changes are often associated with dermal or epidermal changes of lupus. Direct immunofluorescence-band test, antinuclear antibody and other nuclear-antigen serologic tests are positive, when the pathology is equivocal, help confirm the diagnosis.
We have reviewed lupus erythematosus panniculitis with the literature and reported one case of lupus erythematosus panniculitis.
